However, I found the scenery descriptions a tad superfluous. Did not enjoy the book as much as I would have hoped, which comes as a letdown because I genuinely wanted to love this book.

Struck my interest (as i am generally interested in wars and all other events of historical significance). But a good story doesn’t cut it. The art of writing, tethering words together, in a more exciting manner is one Westerfeld should incorporate. A good read, notwithstanding.
